ABOUT THE TEAM

The SRO Advanced Incident Support Team is a not-for-profit branch of Special Rescue Operations. Comprised of members with skillsets like firefighting, HAZMAT, structural assessment, technical search, and more, our goal is to rapidly respond to a disaster area in order to perform a needs assessment. Through specialized reconnaissance operations, we are able to gather information regarding hazards structures, casualties, and a situational overview critical to the rescue teams that will follow.

OUR MISSION

The SRO-AIST aims to provide rapid, advanced special reconnaissance in disaster areas across Canada and worldwide. By providing special reconnaissance in order to gather intelligence of structural instability, victims and structures can be triaged in order to prioritize the locations of those immediately in need.

During a disaster when resources are stretched to the limit, SRO-AIST will be there to stabilize the situation and save lives . Our team members bring immediate help to those in imminent danger. In order to do so, we rely solely upon generous support from organizations and individuals.

CAPABILITIES

SPECIAL RECONNAISSANCE

In the aftermath of a disaster, SRO-AIST swiftly deploys to survey the area and gather information. This invaluable data can then be relayed to incident command to pinpoint critical areas of concern. With this intelligence, government agencies and rescue organizations can get the insight needed to orchestrate an effective response.

URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE

SRO-AIST can perform light USAR operations; since our team specializes in rapid deployment to urban disaster areas, navigating hazardous terrain to locate and aid those in distress is well within our capabilities. Equipped with specialized equipment and trained in technical rescue, they provide a beacon of hope amidst the chaos, ensuring that no one is left behind.

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT

Incident Management is an integral part of our emergency response efforts. SRO-AIST has the capability to manage a type 3 incident, a level of incident management which allows for the efficient allocation of resources during moderate to complex situations, ensuring a prompt and effective response to emergencies.

JOINT OPERATIONS

When our initial reconnaissance finishes, that doesn’t mean an end to our work. SRO-AIST is able to assist and support other teams in their efforts, whether it’s search, rescue, structural, or beyond. Having collaborated with other teams in previous efforts and training, we’re no stranger to lending our efforts and skills they’re needed most.
